The table illustrates the percentage of households in the United Kingdom having consumer durables form 1996 to 2006. It can be clearly observed that, apart form telephone all other consumer durables gained popularity from 1996 to 2006.
With regards to Internet connection, it stood at 10 percent in 1996 and then dramatically inclined and reached its zenith point around 60 percentage in 2006. Likewise, Mobile Phone experience a two fold increase to just above a half in 2006. Fridge comprises of almost a quarter remained relatively constant in both the years.
In contrast, the usage of Microwave, Fridge and washing machine remained constant in in 1996 at about three-forth. The percentage of Microwave climbed to 80 percentile in 2006, up 10 percent from 1996. Compared to others, the situation of telephone was different. Having inclined in 1996, the percentage of telephone had fell to 88 percentage approximately.
Overall, every durable witnessed an increase in 2006 except telephone. Although telephone faced a small reduction, it stood at the top.
