The chart below shows the proportions of the world’s oil resources held in different areas, together with the proportions consumed annually in the same areas.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant
The bar chart on the left depicts the percentage of global oil resources distributed region wise. While the bar chart on the right represents the rate of annual consumption in the same areas. Generally, more than half of the world resources are present in the Middle East. However, greater than 50% of oil is utilized by Asia and United State.
Worldwide oil reservoirs vary, with the Middle East on the top having nearly 56% of the total. It is followed by Canada and, Central and South America with the figures of 14.84% and about eight percent respectively. In contrast, the remaining countries of the world, in combination, are responsible for less than one-fifth of total resources.
On the contrary, Asia alone utilizes greater than one-fourth of global oil annually, it is followed by United State with a percentage consumption of 25. In addition, Western Europe consumes about one-fifth. All the other areas of the globe use less than 30% when combined.
To sum up, only three regions have reservoirs higher than their rate of consumption while, all other parts of the word have fewer resources. However, only the Eastern Europe has utilization rate that balances its production.
