The supplied chart compares total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone call in the United Kingdom distributed between local calls from the fixed lines, national and international calls from the fixed lines and all calls from cell phones in period of 7 years (1995-2002).In general, the minutes called from the all sources had an increasing trend, however, local calls from the land lines showed descending trend after middle of the period as cell phones doubled minutes which people talked from this devices.
As can be seen from the chart, minutes called from the fixed phones slowly climbed over the period from 1995 to 1999, when in 1995, number of minutes called from land lines slightly exceeded seventy per cent and peaking in 1999 with 90 per cent respectively. Lately with increasing of minutes called from mobile phones, calls from the land lines kept dropping to same amount as it is beginning in 1995.
Getting back to the details, national and international minutes called from the land line steadily rose over the period from about 40 per cent in 1995 to about sixty-one per cent in 2002.
It could be noticed that minutes called from the mobil phones had a significant rise over seven years. In 1995 people talked only 3 millions minutes from cell phones, but in 2002 more than 40 millions minutes have been called from mobile devices (local, national and international). The period between 2000 and 2002 had a dramatic growth of minutes called from portable devices, with about 25 per cent in 2000 and forty-five per cent in 2002.
