Essay topics:

The chart illustrates distances travelled per person per week (in kilometers) in terms of 5 types of transport in the UK between 1990 and 2000.

The bar chart compares figures concerning distances that an individual has gone in a week by five different modes of transportation, measured in kilometers, between 1990 and 2000.
From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that three out of five transportation modes enjoyed an upward trajectory, while others showed a moderate fall, making the total travelled distances increase. The most favourable types were by far bus and rail.
The bus remained the most commonly-used vehicle throughout the period. Having started at 40 kilometers per person, the figure for bus rose marginally to slightly above 40 kilometres in 2000. A similar pattern can be observed in rail, which began somewhat lower at 35 kilometers and experienced a small growth of 3 kilometers. In contrast, the trend of air travelling appeared to be fast-growing. With merely a kilometers in 1990, air displayed a fivefold increase in 10 years.
This pattern is generally reversed for bicycles and motorbikes with both ranging at somewhere around 2 kilometers and finished at approximately a kilometer.
Therefore, the total distance travelled by five transportation types showed an increase of 10% to 110 at the end of the period.
