The given bar chart illustrates the day-to-day minimum and maximum amounts of air contaminants on average in 4 cities in 2000.
Overall, Mexico City’s atmosphere was poisoned the most and Los Angeles had the lowest level of air pollutants in 2000. Additionally, there was a huge disparity among the proportions of the two poisoning gasses of the four subjects.
Both Los Angeles and Mexico City suffered N2O much more than SO2. The average daily maximums of N2O were 104 and 207 micrograms per m3 in Los Angeles and Mexico City respectively, while those of SO2 were only 10 and 200. Los Angeles was polluted by the SO2 gas at the lowest level of 2 micrograms per m3 each day, whereas it was 39 in terms of N2O. Mexico City’s minimum level of SO2 was 80 while that of N2O was more than 33 micrograms in comparison with it.
The opposite pattern could be seen in Calcutta and Beijing. The average maximum and minimum amounts of SO2 and N2O in Calcutta were not too different. When SO2 reached its peak at 59, N2O leveled off at 52 and the respective lowest points of them were 47 and 30. Regarding Beijing, it was contaminated by SO2’s the highest level of 100 and the lowest at 25 while N2O’s peak was just 54 and its minimum was 14 micrograms per m3 in 2000.
