Essay topics:

The chart shows the number of shops that closed and the number of new shops opening in a country from 2011 to 2018.

The given line graph exhibits how many stores were closed and how many new stores were opened in a single country during the period of eight years (from 2011 to 2018).

In brief, the number of shops closed and opened saw considerable fluctuations over a specific period. However, the closures outpaced the openings in all years except 2011 and 2015.

The number of new shops started at around 8500 in 2011. After a slump of about 3500 in the following year, openings made a rebound, reaching almost the same levels as that of closings in 2014 with a little over 6000. The figure then climbed down significantly again to its 2012 quantity in 2015, where it stayed nearly unchanged before falling to an all-time low of 3000 in 2018.

The figure for closures varied roughly between 6000 and 7000 over the first four-year period. Afterward, in 2015, it hit its lowest peak at well above 600. Nevertheless, this quantity boomed to a plateau at more than 5000 in 2016 and remained at this level until the end of the period.
