The chart shows the percentage of males and females who were overweight in Australia from 1980 to 2010

The bar chart compares the proportion of obese Australians between 1980 and 2010. Generally, the rate of obesity among males outnumbered that of obesity among females each year. Furthermore, the figure for both men and women who were fat experienced an upward trend over the first 20-year period before undergoing a gradual decline in 2010.
Looking at overweight Australian men in more detail, in 1980, around 40% were reported and this figure growth by approximately 9% over the next 10 years. After that, the proportion of those men rose gradually to almost 65% in 2000, followed by a significant drop of nearly 5% accordingly.
Turning to obese females in this country, the lowest figure was recorded at over 30% in the beginning year. Twenty years later, the female overweight rate witnessed a considerable climb of 10% every 10 years and reached almost 50% in 2000. Eventually, the figure for Australian women remained stable at this level towards the end of the period.
