The bar chart demonstrates the percentage of overweight men and women in Australia from year 1980 to 2010 with a 10 year interval. For all the given years males are shown to have more tendency to get overweight.
Overall, the percentage of obese people kept on accelerating over the years and reached the highest in year 2000 which was more than 25% to the numbers in 1980. There was a slight decline in male overweight population in the next 10 years after 2000.
For 1980, 40% of the male and 32% of female population were above the normal weight category. These number increased to 65% and 54% respectively for males and females over the span of next 20 years. However, these numbers for males came down by 5% over the next 10 years but female obese population remained the same.
