The charts below give information about USA marriage and divorce rates between 1970 and 2000, and the marital status of adult Americans in two of the years.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The first bar chart compass the data of marriage and divorces in America from 1970 to 2000, while the marital status of the USA adults in the two particular years is illustrated in the second bar graph. Overall, throughout the surveyed period, the married population remained nearly twice the number of divorces, and far more Americans were married than any other types of people.

First of all, 2.5 million residents in the USA were married in 1970. This portion kept stable until 1980 before experiencing a gradual decrease and bottomed out at 2 million in 2000. On the contrary, people who were divorced firstly rose from 1 million to its peak at 1.4 million in the first decade. Therefore, this figure moderately dropped back to its initial statistic at 1 million in 2000.

As for the marital status in America, the proportion of married adults were highest in both years, which represented 70% and 59% respectively. The second place was taken by those who were never married, as it accounted for 15% in 1970 and slightly grew to 20% in 2000. Although divorced population quadrupled its original figure, those who were widowed or divorced remained the most insignificant portions, with the rate under 10% in both groups and both years.

flaws:
1. Overall, throughout the surveyed period, the married population remained nearly twice the number of divorces

math like 'nearly twice' is not welcomed in IELTS, better:
There was a clear downward trend of people getting married in the US.

or we may say something exactly twice/double or %50 of something else.

2. why 'portion'?

First of all, 2.5 million residents in the USA were married in 1970. This portion kept stable...

it is 'number' in the first graph:
From 1970 to 1980, 2.5 million marriages were registered in America; however, this number kept stable...

3. better to change:
Therefore, this figure moderately dropped back to its initial statistic at 1 million in 2000. //it is not a conclusion

to:
However, this figure moderately dropped back to its initial statistic at 1 million in 2000.
