The first chart illustrates the date of the American marriage and divorce rate, while the second chart explains the marital status of America's adults.

Overall, we can see that the marriage rate showed a decreasing trend, whereas a fluctuating trend was experienced by the divorce rate. Marital couples; additional, hit a peak in both the years.

According to the first chart, the number of weddings held in 1970 was as many as in 1980 (2.5 million each); however, it dropped by around 0.25 million in 1980 and then continued to decline to 2 million. The divorce rate in 1970 accounted for 1 million which was rosed to about 1.25 million in the next decade. just above 1 million was reported in 1990 and at i million in 2000.

In the next graph, 70% of adults married in 1970 and 60% in 2000; however, almost 15% in 1970 and and 20 % in 2000 was single. just below 10% was recorded widowed in 1970 as opposed to 2000 when only 8% was registered. a minor percentage was constituted nearly 2% got divorced in 1970, as compared to 2000when the number increased to around 9%.
