The line graphs depict proportion of families with electrical gadgets and time spent doing household chores per week between the year 1920-2019.
Overall, it can be observed that, houses buying refrigerator and vacuum cleaners went on increasing and there were some fluctuations in purchasing washing machines, meanwhile the time period used for doing housework went on declining gradually.
To begin with, in the year 1920 washing machine were bought the highest which accounted for 40 % whereas the refrigerators purchase was 30 % and no use of vacuum cleaner was seen, in 1940 for all the three appliances, there was a substantial growth in the electrical appliances availability in the families which was 50 %, 52 % and 60% respectively. The houses having vacuum cleaner and refrigerator went on increasing steadily upto 100%, for refrigerator in the year 1980 while for vacuum cleaner availability comprised of 100% in the families in the year 2000, afterwards both the appliances achieved a constant phase.
The washing machine was bought the most in 1920 which comprised for 40 %, increased uptill 1940 to 70 % and then slightly declined, increased again slowly which revealed 71% usage in 2019. The number of hours spent on housework showed downward trend going from 50 hours to 20 hours in 1960 and went on dramatically declining to 10 hours per week.
