The charts below show changes in the proportion of the energy produced from different resources in a country in 1985 and 2003

The pie charts illustrate how the production of energy, from various sources, changed in a specific country form 1985 to 2003.
Overall, the use of some sources increased for energy production, while other's decreased. Oil was the dominant source to be used for production over the period despite experiencing a slight decrease. However, the contribution of coal and natural gas, for the purpose, rose dramatically.

In 1985, just over half of the electricity was generated from oil. Although its proportion dropped significantly to 39% in 2003, it remained the major source of electricity production. Similarly, nuclear power was the second most used source, providing 22% of energy initially. However, in 2003 its share decreased substantially to 8 percent only. In contrast, coal and natural gas were producing 8% and 13% energy respectively in 1985. Whereas, their use rose markedly to almost a quarter in 2003. Moreover, other renewable resources contributed only 1% in 1985 and 4% in 2003. Finally, hydropower provided just 4% of electricity in both the years.
