Essay topics:

The charts below show the favourite takeaways of people in Canada and the number of Indian restaurants in Canada between 1960 and 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant

The pie chart illustrates the percentage of different kinds of takeaways consumed by residents living in Canada. On the other hand, the bar chart indicates the figure of Indian restaurants located in Canada.

Generally, it can be seen in the pie chart that Thai food experienced the highest percentage of customers. On contrary, Mexican, Greek and Japanese takeaways had the lowest consumption. Besides, it is obvious that the number of Indian restaurants fluctuated and unstable over the surveyed period.

34% of the Canadian population were fond of eating Thai takeaway food, which made this kind of food the most popular in the country. Indian food ranked second, accounting for 26%. There was a similar proportion of Italian, Persian, and other takeaway foods, with 10%, 9%, and 11% respectively. Both Greek, Japanese and Chinese takeout meals experienced a figure of 1% .

There was a rise in the number of Indian restaurants from 1960 to 2007. Despite a stable period from 2007 to 2009, this proportion started falling slightly in 2011 and increased again in 2015.
