Essay topics:

the charts below show the percentage of US music album sales by genre in 2008,2009, and 2010.

The provided pie chart compares and contrasts data on the popularity of five separate musical genres according to the sales of albums in the US in 3 years, 2008,2009, and 2010.
Overall, it is clear to see that Rock was the most common choice in the US among the five given types. Additionally, an upward trend was seen in Rock and Country albums on sale rate whereas there was a slight lull in that of Alternative and R&B albums. By contrast, the proportion of Jazz albums being sold remained unchanged over the period shown.
Looking at the charts in detail, in 2008 Rock was the dominant genre, accounting for approximately 39% of all sales, and the figure remained relatively constant in the subsequent year then reached the pinnacle of 40% in 2010. Moreover, the sale of Country albums in 2008 represented around 13%, a third of the Rock figure in the same year, which slightly accelerated to 16% in 2009 then jumped further to around 18% in 2010.
On the other hand, roughly 23% of US albums being sold in 2008 was in the Alternative genre, a year later that of Alternative shrank abruptly, making up only 20%, followed by a period of stability. The data showed that 22% of the US music album consumption fell into the R&B category by 2008, remaining almost constant in 2009 then the figure went down minimally and hit a low of 19% in 2010. Over the 3 years, there was no change in the Jazz album sales rate, consistently staying at nearly 3% of total sales, also became the least common genre compared to the others.
