In England, 30% of students communicated only in English, 2000. The number grew to 35 by 2010. Similarly, the percentage of students who spoke two other languages and another language saw an increase by 5 % each.
In contrast, French and Spanish became less popular. The proportion of these categories decreased from 15% and 20% to 10% and 10%, respectively. Of British students 10% could speak German, in 2000, and this number saw no change by 2010.
