The diagram depicts the process in which shellfish is labeled for global consumption.
Overall, there are several steps to label shellfish, beginning with attaching GPS devices to fishing boats and culminating with distributing the final products to different markets.
As can be observed from the diagram, in the first phase, artisanal fishing boats are equipped with GPS gadgets in order to locate their locations. These data are then collected and transferred automatedly to a monitoring center based in Santiago through the satellites. Following this, the catches are moved to the labeling section.
In the next stage, barcode labels are generated (based on the given data) to classify the catches by their origins. Afterwards, the certified catches are moved to the plants in which shellfish are carefully processed to be ready for the next step. Finally, the certificated shellfish are transferred to consumers of both domestic and international markets by different vehicles including trucks and planes.
