The 3 maps illustrate how West Park Secondary School changed since it was first constructed in 1950 to 2010.
Overall, the school underwent a number of dramatic changes, the most important of which are the appearance of a car park, the development of the school and the reduction in area of the playground.
In the North-West, there used to be a residential area in 1950, but it was then converted and divided into a small car park and a science block in 1980. The sport fields was constructed in 1980, replacing the farmland for crops in the South-West thirty years ago. In 2010, the car park of the school redeveloped as a much new-bigger one, which covered most area in the West, so other facilities were replaced except for the science block.
In the North-East of the area, the school became the main building in 1980 and no changes were made to it then until 2010. The playground in the South- East remained unchangeable from 1950 to 1980, before its area was reduced by one-third to build a new sports field, due to the expansion of the car park in the West.
