Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons relevant.
You should write at least 150 words.
The diagrams illustrate how animals’ bodies changed through evolutionary times, which were millions of years.
Overall, the body has had a significant change; also the size of hooves has become bigger and bigger as the years pass.
The first representative of the line that led to the modern horse, Eohippus, appeared about 40 million years ago. Eohippus had the smallest bone structure in the revolution, with the same size as the fox. It also can be seen that the hooves are small and weak. Over 10 millions later, the Mesohippus had evolved into a larger form and longer tail. The number of digits reduced to three and the middle one becomes larger. The important factor was they had thin mane on the neck/ back.
The next updated version was Merychippus whose body became bigger, larger tail and thicker mane on the back, turned up 15 million years ago. The feet remained three-toed, but the size between the middle toes and the two sides were huge. Finally, Modern horse’s toes show a reduction in number from 4 to 1. The central third toe grows stronger and firmer, the adjacent toes become shorter and thinner.
