The first diagram illustrates the stages that are involved in making cement and the second one shows the process of producing concrete from this cement for building purposes.
Overall, the production of cement consists of four basic steps, while the production of concrete involves simply mixing cement with some other ingredients. For making cement, we start with crushing limestone and clay together, whereas concrete is created by mixing cement with three other things in a mixer.
The first step in the production of cement is crushing the limestone and clay in a crusher, which converts it into a powder. Next, this powder passes through a mixer and then a rotatory heater. Lastly, the product passes through a grinder, which provides us with a fine cement powder. Finally, it is packed and shipped away.
As far as concrete production is concerned, it is a simple process. In a huge drum like machine called concrete mixer, cement (15 percent), water (10 percent), sand (25 percent) and gravel (50 percent) are dumped and mixed, till we get concrete mixture that can be used for building purposes.
