The diagram illustrates the current system of distribution of water in Australia and the changes that are expected to be made in future.
Overall, the pattern of water distribution is going to see significant modifications. Furthermore, in future water from the storm and waste will be purified and supplied for domestic and commercial uses.
At present, storage or dam containing pure water is the only source which supplies to household shops and factories in the city. From the city, waste water is produced which is then passed into the river after initial decontamination in a water treatment plant. Similarly, storm water is also diverted toward the river but without any special processing.
In future, water from waste and storm are planned to be made pure by sending it to the water treatment plant. Following which, this pure water can be supplied back for various purposes in houses, shops and factories. It is proposed that no water will be released into the river in the time ahead.
