Essay topics:

The diagrams show the changes that have taken place at Queen Mary Hospital since its construction in 1960.

The diagrams illustrate the three different stages which reflected the developments that happened at Queen Mary in three years: 1960, 1980, and 2000. Overall, during this period, the hospital increased in size, whereas it was opposite the parking area. In addition to a new nursing school, cancer centre were constructed and extended to meet the demand.
Looking at the first mentioned year, the hospital was built close to the main road and next to the shopping centre. A large area behind the shopping centre was farmland, while the car park was located in the back of the hospital. By 1980, the shopping hall was demolished to pave the way for two additional hospital buildings which became a cancer centre and a pharmacy department. Meanwhile, the farmland was converted into a nursing school.
In the next 20 years, the main hospital remained unchanged, but the cancer center was expanded to cover half space of the nursing school. As a result of this, the original parking capacity was reduced by half in size in order to give way to a small nursing school.
