Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using facebook as a means of online instruction. You may compare with other tools like zoom etc. Relevant examples of your own experience can be included.

"What is the most popular social network today?" I am sure that many people will answer that it is Facebook. Facebook - a giant social networking attracts billions of users worldwide. The ceaseless development of the trend that people use Facebook as a means of online instruction has led to a ventilation of the benefits and harms of it.
On the one hand, we can't reject huge advantages that Facebook contributes to our teaching. First, Facebook lets teachers and students connect and exchange with each other without worries about distance. Today, Facebook has removed the spatial gap. It has very convenient functions like messaging, video call, sharing informations and commenting on others' posts, etc. For example, the teachers can create a Facebook group for their class and communicate with their students effectively. This also allows you to share assignments, lectures and other related information. Second, the preeminent feature of social network is the ability to share videos. You can share interesting videos related to the subject to make teaching more lively. It also helps attract students to participate in learning. Last but not least, Facebook is also an opportunity for students to interact with teachers as well as your classmates quickly and effectively. For example, after the teacher assign students a task, some students still have questions. Teachers and other students will help this student by answering those questions via Facebook. In this way, students can find immediate help without waiting for meetings in classroom.
On the other hand, everything has its downside, and Facebook also has a lot of disadvantages in instruction. Facebook is considered a cause of distraction. Messages and posts on Facebook easily attract ours attention. This dominates our ability to concentrate
. Facebook is distracting and time-consuming, which will adversely affect learning. Another outstanding drawback of using Facebook is that it makes people passive. Communicating via Facebook too much gradually makes us passive and have difficulty in direct daily communication. Finally, although it is said that Facebook is very functional, it has some security restrictions. The management of Facebook customer information is too loose. There have been user data hacks from Facebook recently. In addition, Facebook also has limitations with the requirements for organizing online conferences of businesses and organizations. One solution to this problem is Zoom - a widely used application for online study and work for people these days. This shows that we have a lot of options that we can choose to serve our various purposes without relying on Facebook.
To sum up, using Facebook as a teaching tool has many utilities, but it is also easy to harm. We need to apply social network to instruction in a smart way to take advantage of it and avoid negative consequences.
