Both table bar charts illustrate the number of honey-bee colonies and honey production in the United States between 1970 and 2010.
Overall, it can be seen that both charts showed the same patterns, with some fluctuations in the first half of the period. Besides, the number of honey colonies was directly proportional to the amount of honey produced, except for the year 1980.
According to the first graph, there were four million US honey-bee colonies in 1970 and the next ten years, the number of bee colonies shown a slight increase to about 4,2 million. However, in 1990, the number of US honey-bee colonies fell significantly to 3,5 million. Since then, there was a gradual decrease in the next 20 years, reaching just under 2 million in 2010.
During the same period, the amount of honey produced fluctuated. There were 130,000 tonnes in 1970 but it went down sharply to 110,000 tonnes in 1980. Noticeably, in 1990, the number of honey productions ascended temporarily up to 120,000 tonnes before falling substantially in the following years.
