The first chart below shows how energy is used in an average Australian household. The second chart shows the greenhouse gas emissions which result from this energy use.
The charts represent the proportion of average energy used for six household goods and the amount of greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the energy usage in Australia.
Overall, the highest energy using appliances have produced fewer greenhouse gas emissions except for water heating. Australian household used lesser energies for cooling and lighting which also produced the least greenhouse gas emissions.
The majority of Australian household used energies for heating purposes (of 42%), this produced the least gas emissions of 15% in comparison to its usage. Meanwhile, cooling used 2% of energies and 4% energies used for lighting in Australia and which produced 3% and 8% of greenhouse gas emissions respectively.
In terms of heating, which produced the most greenhouse gas emissions of 32% in compared to 42% of its energy used. Also, 15% of Australian household used energies for other appliances and which produced 28% of greenhouse gas emissions. Lastly, there was the third least energy used for refrigeration of 7% in Australia, which released 14% of gas emissions.
