Forested Land [Ielts task 1]
The table compares and contrasts data on the amount of forested land in 6 areas over a period of 16 years.
At the on set, it is clear that there is a slight decrease in the total amount of forested land in most of the mainlands, with an exception for Asia and Europe. We can also see that timbered areas in Europe and South America were significantly higher than that in other areas.
As can be seen in the table, in 1990, both South America and Europe have around 950 ha woodland. The figure for Africa and North America stood at around four fifth that amount. Oceania had the lowest amount of woodland at the same time.
By 2005, the amount of wooded land in Europe rose steadily, reached a peak at 1001 ha. That is also the highest figure in the table. Forested land in Asia also rose slightly by 8 ha. By contrast, woodland in Africa and South America dropped moderately while forested areas in Oceania and North America remained unchanged.
