Geothermal power plant
The diagram illustrates the processes involved in producing electricity from geothermal energy.
Overall, the whole process is divided into 5 stages, 3 above the ground mainly water storage and electric generation while 2 underground including heating water using geothermal heat.
In the beginning, cold water is stored in a storage tank from where water flows to a geothermal zone located 4.5 km deep in the earth through a channel named the injection well. Inside the geothermal zone, the earth's temperature is utilized to heat the water and then pumped up to a condenser chamber covering an equal distance as cold water through the production well.
In the last two steps, steam is produced from the hot water in the condenser chamber. Next, the produced steam passes into the turbine through a narrow path, make it spin. Finally, the generator, which is powered by the turbine, produces electricity which is then transferred into the electric grid via power lines.
