It has been clear from the data that, in 1966 US citizens spent most of their money on buying food items (44%). Whereas, after about 30 yers they used almost the same proportion of money on their cars.
A detailed view of the charts reveals that, there were some considerable percentage of increase in the spendings regarding some items. The expenditure on computers showed almost 8 fold increase and restaurant bills were almost doubled from 7% to 14% . While, Americans spending on some items like metro and furniture recorded a mere decline of 1% and 2% respectively. An important point to be noted that, US people almost given up their habit of buying books. It showed a 5% decline over the period of time and constituted only 1% of their total spending in 1996.
In conclusion, we can see a great difference with regards to the some items as compared to the past figures. Categories like food and car showed significant changes. However, sectors like furniture and petrol held their proportions even after the 3 decades of time despite some slight changes.
