The given pie charts compare the expenses in 7 different categories in 1966 and 1996 by American Citizens.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

The pie charts show the expenses of American citizens in two different years that is 1966 and 1996. It includes categories like Food, Cars, Petrol, Restaurants, Furniture, Computers and Books.

According to the given pie chart, during 1966, American people majorly spent their income in food expenses whereas in 1996 they spent widely on Cars.

By looking at both the pie charts, It is clearly understood that Americans had significantly decreased their expenses on food from 1966 to 1996, 44% to 14 % respectively. While amount of money spent on Petrol and Furniture were reduces very minutely. Also the number of people who spent 6% of income on Books was plummeted by 6 times of its original in 1996.

On the other hand, categories in which expenditure was increased from 1966 to 1996 are Cars, Restaurants and Computers. Money spent on Cars was 23% in 1966 which became 45% in 1996. Expenses on restaurants simply got doubled from 1966 to 1996. Computer is the category where expenditure got simply 10 times than it was in 1966.
