The presented charts elucidate the global water used in agriculture, industrial, and domestic sectors from 1900 to 2000 measured in km3 and also the water consumed in Brazil and Congo in the sectors of population, irrigated land, and water consumption per person in 2000.
The main facts that stand out are that, the global water using experienced an upward trend during 100 years where agriculture had the highest amount of used water. On the other hand, the water consumption in Brazil was higher than in Congo.
In 1900, agricultural sector had a much larger number of using water which stood at about 500 km3 while industrial and domestic sectors began at 150 km3 and 100 km3 respectively. From 1900 to 2000, all sectors experienced upward trends where agriculture increased sharply to well over above 2000 km3 . at the same time, industrial and domestic sectors saw moderate and slight increases consecutively and they hit high off at under 200 km3.
During 2000, Brazil had more population than in Congo which accounted for 176 million and 5.2 million each. Irrigated land in Brazil was 26,500 km3 , far higher than Congo which was noted at 100 km3. The water consumption per person in Brazil was also larger than Congo with net of 351 m3.
