The line graph illustrates the percentage of families use car regularly in Great Britain over the period of 26 years.
Overall, the proportion of households using cars increase significantly, specially the use of two cars rise dramatically.
There was a gradual growth in the use of two cars from 8% to 10% between 1971 and 1979, then the figure rise sharply from 10% to 36% over the 22- year period. By contrast, the percentage of families using no car decrease considerably from 58% in 1971 to 40% in 1983 and reached the lowest point of 36% in 2007.
The use of one car decline minimally from 43% in 1971 to 41% in 1975. After that, the figure fluctuate slightly between approximately 44% and 42% over the period of 22 years. The use of three or more cars experienced a leveling out at 2% from 1971 to 1979 and then went up moderately by 5% from 2% in 1979 to 7% in 2007.
