The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.

The line graph illustrates the amount of energy being used in the USA from 1980 to 2030.
It is clear that petrol and oil have shown a upward trend. Meanwhile, the figure for hydropower have changed steadily, hovering at the same amount over the period shown.
In 1980, petrol and oil were the main source of energy in the USA, with 35 quadriliion units were used. The figure have fluctuated and reached a peak of nearly 48 units in 2030. The figure for natural gas fluctuated widely and have plateaued at approximately 25 quadrillion units in 2030. Coal have seen an upward trajectory and have forecasted at over 30 in 2030.
Meanwhile, in 1980, nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower experienced the same amount of energy were used at about 40 quadrillion units. All three figure changed steadily from 1980 to 2010 and have remained steadily over the period of 20 years. And have projected about over 5 units for nuclear and solar/ wind, respectively and below 5 units for hydropower.
