Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and making comparisons where relevant.
The graph shows information from a 2008 report on the amount of energy consumed by different fuel types in the USA from 1980 to 2030.
It is clear that the consumption of all sources is predicted to increase between 1980 and 2030. Besides, petrol and oil were always the most consumed energy sources.
In 1980, Petrol and Oil were consumed the most with 35 quadrillion units, then the figure rose to approximately 40 quadrillion units in the year 2008, and this is set to reach nearly 50 quadrillion units in 2030. Natural gas and coal came in second and third in 1980 with around 20 quadrillion units and 16 quadrillion units respectively. However, Coal overtook natural gas in 1990, and with just over 30 quadrillion units, this kind of energy is set to be the second most used fuel in 2030. It is predicted that natural gas will level off at about 25 quadrillion units .
There was a variation in annual energy consumption for three kinds of sources, nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower. In 1980, the figures for nuclear and renewable energies stood at around 4 quadrillion units and fluctuated up until 2008. It is speculated that nuclear energy will reach 10 quadrillion by 2030, and solar/wind will rise slightly around 5 quadrillion units. Moreover, Hydropower is predicted to drop and then remain constant at approximately 2 quadrillion units.
