The graph below gives information about car ownership in Britain from 1971 to 2007.

The given line graph displays the number of cars owned in the UK between 1917 and 2007.
From an overall perspective, the total proportion of ownership increased throughout the 36-year period. On the other hand, there was a reverse trend in the percentage of households that did not own a car.
Commencing with households without cars, it started at the highest percentage among other figures, approximately 48% in 1971. The proportion of one car ownership in the same year was also substantial (about 45%). On the contrary, two-car ownership was roughly 8%, and three or more cars owned was just 2%.
Turning to the trend during the period, the percentage of households that owned two or more cars increased from 1971 to 2007, while the one-car ownership fluctuated and ended up at almost the same proportion, which was 45%. Nevertheless, owning no car witnessed a plummet and stood at 25%.
