Essay topics:

The graph below gives information about the price of bananas in four countries between 1984 and 2004.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The graph illustrates how much money was spent on bananas per kilogram in 4 different countries, namely Japan, France, Germany and the USA from 1994 to 2004.

Overall, the prices of bananas were by far the highest in Japan while the opposite was the case for the USA. In addition, except for the USA, bananas’ costs in all nations were erratic during the surveyed decade.

With regard to Japan, holding the first position at just under $2.00 in the initial examined year, the price increased dramatically to around $2.80 in 1995, after which this number saw a considerable drop and hit the bottom at approximately $1.50 in 2001 prior to recovering sharply to precisely $2.50 at the end of the period. Meanwhile, after a slight growth from $0.7 in 1994 to $1.10 the figure for bananas in the USA remained relatively stable at that level throughout the ten years.

Regarding the remaining countries, France and Germany started at $1.60 and $1.40, respectively. Still, while the former stabilized at that level until 1997, a decline of $0.2 was recorded in the latter in 1995 before rising to $1.50 after two years. During 7 years from 1997 to 2004, the costs of the two countries witnessed wild fluctuations, especially in France, where the figure overtook Japan to become the country with the highest price at around $1.60 in 2001 (hay ‘’to dominate the first rank at…” thì hay hơn hả thầy?) and stood at the lowest of all countries at just exactly $1.00 in 2003. In the end, banana costs in both countries bounced roughly the same to their original value 10 years ago.
