Essay topics:

The graph below show the average number of UK commuters traveling each day by car, bus or train between 1970 and 2030.

The line graph gives information about the average number of workers in the UK who use three different modes transport (car, bus, train) on a daily basis over a 60-year period, from 1970 to 2030.

It is clear that the car is by far the most popular transport form for UK commuters in a given period. While the numbers of car users and train users increase gradually, the figure for bus decreases marginally.

In 1970, around 5 mln workers used cars, whereas about 2 mln commuters travelled by train, which was the least popular at the beginning. However, over the fifty years, the figures for both car and train users saw similar trajectories, reaching to approximately 7 mln and 4 mln respectively in 2020. The number of those who used buses to work stood at roughly 4 mln in 1970, then it had fallen slightly to just above 3 mln by 2020.

Until 2030, the numbers of daily car and railway users are predicted to be almost 9 mln and 5 mln respectively, while that of commuters who use buses is projected to finish at only 3 mln.
