The graph below show the proportion of the population aged 54 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three differents countries.
The given line chart compares the percentage of people aged 65 and above in three different nations Janpan, Sweden, USA over a period of one hundred years from 1940 with prediction to 2040.
Overall, what stands out from the chart is that there are upward trends in all figure. Also, the data of Japan started at lowest point, but that is expected to reach the highest point in the last year.
One of the first things to note is that the proportion of poplulation aged 65 and over was highest at roughly 9%, followed by those of Sweden with over 7% and Japan 5% in 1940. As for 1980, there were gradual rises in the data of USA and Sweden account for 15% and about 14% respectively, while the figure for Japan went down slightly to roughly 3%, a degree of 2%.
In the next 40 years, from 1980 to 2020, the amount of old people continued to grow steadily about 6% in Sweden and that of USA almost remained unchanged. However, aged population in Japan experienced a moderate increase to around 8%.
In the last year, the statistics for Swedent is expected to grow to 25%, it is higher than that of USA around 2%. On the other hand, the figure for Janpan is predicted to hit the highest point at below 28%
