Essay topics:

The graph below shows the average number of UK commuters travelling each day by car, bus
or train between 1970 and 2030.

The line graph illustrates information about the number of commuters who used three categories of transports, namely car, bus and train in the UK over the course of 60 years starting in 1970.

Overall, it is immediately obvious that there were a considerable upward trend in the number of commuters using car and train over the period shown, while the figure for Bus fell steadily.

Looking at the details, around 5 million of commuters travelling each day by car, which was the highest number in 1970, why the figures for bus and train were lower, stood at above 4 million and under 2 million. Despite having remained stable at approximately 4 million from 1970 to 1980, the figure for bus will fell steadily to just under 3 million in 2030.

By contrast ,If we look at the number of people using car to go to work, having remained at above 5 million from 1970 to 1980, then the figure rose considerably to above 7 million in 2000, after that, car is expected to become the most common form of transport, reach the peak at about 9 million in 2030, which is the highest point of the whole graph. As regards Train, there was a steady increase in the number of people, from above 2 million in 1970 to exactly 3 million in 2000, at which point it levelled off at just around 3 million until 2010. After that, a significant rise is predicted for this form of transport reaching nearly 5 million in 2030.
