The graph below shows the average time spent by four car manufactures to produce vehicles at their US factories
The line graph illustrates the average time to manufacture cars of four different companies in the USA from 1998 to 2005.
Overall, it is clear that the number of hours taken by those companies to produce a car decreased over the period shown. However, the amount of time was reduced by General Motor was higher than that of the others.
In 1998, General Motors needed 32 hours to produce a car. The production time of Ford was 4 hours lower than this, while the figures for Toyota and Honda were similar at approximately 22 hours per vehicle. Following the period, the trends fluctuated for most of the companies, although the figures decreased for all firms.
After reaching a peak of around 31 hours in 2001, the number of hours needed to build a vehicle of Ford fell by about 10 hours to 21 hours in 2005, being lower than the figure of exactly 22 hours of General Motor. In the same year, 20 hours was the amount of time that both Toyota and Honda spent to make a four-wheel drive.
