Writing task 1

The line graph illustrates the cost of world food and oil over an 11 year period from 2000 to 2011. In general, both of the graphs
show
a similar pattern of changes.

Firstly, from 2000 to mid-2008 both world food and oil prices steadily increased from approximately 25 dollars to 120 dollars.
Secondly, from mid-2008 to 2009, there was a dramatic fall in the cost of world food and oil prices.
Finally, from 2009 to 2011, both prices of food and oil dramatically increased.

Interestingly, although the cost of world food and oil was approximately 125 dollars decreased from mid-2008 to 2009, average oil prices
showed
more decrement than world food prices almost by 20 dollars.
Furthermore, from 2009 to 2011, there was a significant balloon in food and oil prices, and in 2011 difference between prices of oil and food was 40 dollars even though in 2000 oil price was slightly higher than food price.
Moreover, from 2000 to 2007, the cost of both world food and oil steadily increased but there was a huge surge in prices from 2007 to mid-2008, indicating a shortage of quantity of food and oil.

To conclude, from 2000 to 2011, both food and oil prices had similar trends but from 2009 and 2011, the cost of oil was lower than the food cost throughout 2 years span.
