The graph below shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a
European country between 1979 and 2004.
The line graph illustrates the amount of fish and meat that people in a European nation consumed during a 25-year period.
Overall, the spending on beef, fish, and lamb decreased, while chicken overtook beef to become the most eaten meat on the diagram. There was a fluctuating increase in the figure for chicken.
Between 1979 and 1989, the amount of beef which was ingested was the highest, at about 220 grams and 200 grams respectively. The figure for chicken and lamb was lower and the same at first, around 150 grams. Chicken consumption fluctuated to 190 grams in 1989, and the lamb was just 100 grams per week. However, fish accounted for the lowest number with only about 60 grams eaten.
After 1989, beef consumption decreased dramatically to over 200 grams. By contrast, the chicken had a rise and surpassed beef and reached a peak at 250 grams. Around 50 grams of lamb was eaten, compared to about 40 grams of fish in 2004.
