The line graph illustrates the amount of three sorts of spreads (butter, margarine and low fat and reduced spreads) in grams which were consumed over 26 years from 1981 to 2007.
Overall, the consumption of butter and margarine decreased over the period given, while low fat and reduced spreads, it rose. The butter became most popular spread in initial year that was replaced by margarine, following low fat and reduced spreads occupied its position.
With regards to amount of butter was eaten, at began, about 140 grams accounted for its consumption, peaked at 160 grams in 1980 before falling dramatically to 160 grams in final year. Likewise, the consumption of margarine stood at 90 grams in initial year which showed slight fluctuations over the entire period and a low of 40 grams in 2007.
However,the low fat and reduced spreads were taken as a food stuff just over 20 grams in 1996, this figure showed a significant rise of 70 grams in later 5 years, fell significantly to 40 grams in 2007.
