The line chart conveys the number of several spreads consumption from 1981 to 2007, counted in grams.
In general, the number of all spread consumption underwent a downward trend. It is also worth pointing out that margarine and butter were consumed more initially before low fat & reduced spread became more preferable options over the year.
From 1981 to 1996, the consumption of butter surged considerably by more than double after reaching its peak at 160 grams. Whilst, an upward trend as shown in the consumption of margarine for 20 before staying at the same number at 100, surpassing the butter intake. Also, the low fat & reduced spread was the lowest at the end of the period.
In the following eleven years, a gradual decline was shown by butter by more than 20. While the consumption of low fat & reduced spread skyrocketed before dipping slightly at below 80, the number of margarine consumption surged by more than half, becoming the least consumed spread eventually.
