The bar chart provides information on how three fields namely agriculture, manufacturing, and business and financial services contributed to the economy of UK in the period from 1900 to 2000.
It is clear that there was a substantial rise in the contribution of business and financial services in the period shown. By contrast, manufacturing was characterized by an exponential decline between 1990 and 2000.
In 1900, agriculture made the most considerable contribution to the economy of UK with approximately 50% while manufacturing accounted for a more minimal percentage, at around 45%. Regardless of constituting the lowest figure of just 3%, business and financial services started to enter a period of remarkable jump from 1900.
Moreover, the same trend was clearly demonstrated in 1950 where agriculture reached a peak of roughly 55%, and afterwards experienced a dramatic plunge. Conversely, in 2000, business and financial services hit the peak of 30% doubling the proportion of manufacturing (15%), and agriculture reached the lowest percentage of about 2%.
