The bar chart given compares a city located un Europe in terms of which types of transport the local inhabitants used to commute to work over a period of 40 years from 1960 to 2000.
It is clear from the chart that residents were prone to go to work by cars and buses. Additionally, an oscillated trend was the norm in all categories except fot the figures of car and bus.
In 1960, the proportion of bus accounted for nearly 40% of the total, which became the most widely-preferred kind of transport used to commute to workplaces among local citizens, while the shares of tube and train were dwarfed by that of bus, at approximately 27% and 18% in turn. Conversely, only over 5% of the locals decided to utilise car to go to work.
In 1980, city's inhabitants were gradually keen on commuting to work by car, with nearly 23%, at which point the share of this transport rocketed to 37% in 2000. Meanwhile, after having plummeted to over 25% in 1980, the rate of bus carried on undergoing a substantial drop to exactly 15% in 2000. By contrast, there was a gradual growth in the percentage of train passengers to about 27%, compared to a slow decrease in that of tube to around 20%. To 2000, a slight rebounce was recorded in the proportion of tube to exactly 25%, whereas that of train commuters dipped moderately to approximately 25%.
