In 1980, compared to other maters, citizens showed less concern about traffic noise when it started from 300 complaints. However, in the next following years, complaints received noticeably changed until 1988 before a steady growth until the end of 1996 to become the third problematic matter. On the other hand, the number of complaints about heavy industries were initially 100 higher than that of traffic noise, it then witnessed a steady increase to finally remain higher in comparison with the number complaints of traffic noise, though turned to be the second major problem in Newtown.
Although, road works are the matter receiving the third highest complaints at a high point of 600 at the beginning of 1980, following which it experienced some fluctuations, but then sharply surpassed that of factories to have the most complaints from the city citizens. Conversely, at the beginning, the majority of residents made the most complaints about household when the number reached around 630. Nevertheless, from then on, this issue no longer caused the big concern at the end when the number steeply dropped to 100 in 1996.
