Overall, the physician density of Cuba experienced a dramatic increase over the period in question while that of the US witnessed a slight rise. The rate of physicians of Cuba was generally higher than the US, except for the first few years of the period.
In 1975, one out of 1000 people in Cuba was medical doctor, which was a bit lower than rate of doctors in the US (around 1.2). Cuban figure rose slightly to overtake that of the US seven years later before climbing dramatically to below 8 in the final year.
