The line graph compares the figure for university students in Canada over a period of 15 years, from 1992 to 2007.
It is clearly seen that there was a significant increase in the volume of Canadian graduates but the number of women graduates rose at a higher rate than that of men.
Looking at the graph in more detail, in 1992, there were about 100 thousand female students studying in Canada, which was 30 thousand higher than the recorded figure for males with a low of 70 thousand. Three years later, by 1995, the number experienced a slight rise, reaching 105 and 75 thousand respectively. However, in the next three years from 1995 to 1998, the number of students in both genders saw a downward trend, hitting a trough of the initial point to approximately 100,000 for females and 71,000 for males.
Nevertheless, during the last 8 year period, the gap between the two genders was larger. While the number of male students soared substantially to reach a peak of almost 150 thousand, that of males experienced a slight fluctuation before reaching the highest point of 95 thousand by 2006.
