The graph illustrates how many Great British in different age groups went to the cinema once a month between 1984 and 2000.
Overall, there was an increase in the percentage of people in Britain went to the cinema of all age group, with people aged from 15-24 witnessing the most dramatic rise. In addition, people aged from 15-24 going to the cinema also consistently had the highest figure among other kinds of age groups, while this figure for those who aged from 35 and over had the lowest figure.
The proportion of people aged from 15-24 going to the cinema started at about 16%, after which it experienced a rise to 55% in 1999, before ending the period at 58% in 2000. Similar change, but to a lesser extent, could be seen in the figure for people coming from 35 and over age group, which grow gradually from 1% in 1984 to around 11% in 1999, before ending the period at 15% in 2000.
Around 10% of people coming from the 7-14 age group went to the cinema once a month in 1984, with a subsequent increase to 37% in 1999 and a final decrease to only 32% in the last year of the period. The figure for people aged from 25-35 was at 4% in 1984, followed by a significant increase to 25% in 1994 and a leveling off at this level until 1999, before ending the period with an increase to 32% in 2000.
