Overall, it is clear that the number of students of these languages is predicted to increase throughout the period. Interestingly, projections show that there will be more people will learn English than others who will choose Spanish or Mandarin.
Regarding English, it is estimated that the number of people who will learn this language will rise significantly in the first 4 years, from 550 million to 700 million. After that, the figure is forecasted to decrease slightly to 620 million, and then go up to 730 million in 2030. The differences between the number of students of English and that of Spanish and Mandarin will be remarkable in 2030, 180 million and 230 million, respectively.
When it comes to 2 other languages, it is projected that 100 million people will learn Mandarin, with opposed to 200 million people who will learn Spanish, in 2020. After that, the figures for these languages will increase considerably. There will be no difference between the number of people will learn these languages in 2026, the figures are both estimated to be 350 million. At the end of the period, there will be more students of Mandarin than that of Spanish, 580 million with opposed to 500 million.
