From the graph, we can see that the percentage of population aged 65 and over has increased from 1940 to 2040 in all the 3 countries, crossing 20 % by 2040. A consistent increase cannot be observed for the 3 countries. In Japan, the population aged 65 and over was below 5 percent up to 2000, but they managed to rise it above 25 percent by 2040. In 1940, the highest percentage of population aged 65 and above was in USA, with nearly 10 percent. However, in 2040 USA is the country with least population aged 65 and over. Thus we can conclude that Japan is the country which has made better progress to attain highest percentage of population aged 65 and over in 100 years.
